5 Ways To Exercise For Parents With Young Kids

Time is the most vital commodity that we need as busy parents. From taking care of our little ones to doing household chores, we barely have time to check on ourselves. Our health and lifestyle also need to be noticed. We need to look after our own selves so we can give the best care for our kids. Being physically fit and having regular exercise reduces the risk of having health diseases and will keep you healthy in the long run. Doing fitness activities helps release the feel-good hormone, makes us calm, happy, and energize especially in keeping up with our little ones. But what are the ways to exercise as a parent of young kids?

Indoor Exercises

When you exercise, do not force yourself to workout for a straight hour or more. Remember that your body needs to adjust to doing some physical activity, especially months after you gave birth. Take it one step at a time. To start, 5 minutes a day can already be beneficial for you. When your body starts to adapt to those activities, you may increase your workout time gradually. Experts say 30 minutes of workout a day can help shed weight loss.

Workout and Play

You can incorporate some of your workouts during playtime with your little one. Small physical movements like playing hide and seek or chasing your little one around your home can benefit both of you. Although movements are limited inside the house, small physical activities can still add in helping build your kids' strong bones and muscles. Another way to sneak in some workouts is when your child is busy in their playroom. You can do a few floor exercises while supervising your child's playing. If you and your child are up for some outdoor activity, you can walk or jog around the neighborhood by pushing them in a jogging stroller. Just make sure they are buckled up for safety.

Going to a park or playground is also a good place for doing physical movements. You can use monkey bars for some pullups, use the bench for push-ups, or the picnic table for some step-ups. Play with your kids run around the park is also a great way to sweat those calories off.

Forty Winks

"Me" time is what we crave for especially when we have little kids. Naptime is a good opportunity to do our "me" time as most of us long for a peaceful and quiet moment. Instead of crashing on the couch, take this time to do some crunches or do any exercise you desire. Not only it will help you will feel good but you will also feel energized, ready to face another toddler-babysitting action.

Music and Play

What's not good about playing music while working out? You can do this by playing some upbeat music and encourage your little one to dance with you. In addition to being fit, it can lift both of your moods and remove anxiety. You can also put on some aerobics videos for you to follow. This will surely be fun for you and your little one! It would be a great family workout!

A lot of things may have changed since you gave birth. Remember to look after yourself and your health. Being healthy goes a long way and helps us to become the best that we can be in taking care of our children. Having a healthy mind and body can improve our relationships with our kids, family, and other people. Teaching the importance of exercise can influence our little kids to be more health-conscious and take care of themselves.

How Families Can Embrace Simple Self-Care to Soothe Fussiness & Stress

This blog explains how simple family self-care routines can help reduce stress when caring for a colicky or frequently crying baby. When an infant is uncomfortable, the entire household can feel overwhelmed and exhausted. The article emphasizes that small, consistent habits can support both parent wellbeing and baby comfort, creating a calmer home environment.

It highlights practical strategies such as short daily walks, simple meal routines, quick breathing exercises, reduced screen time before bed, and consistent sleep cues. These small habits help regulate stress, improve family rhythms, and make it easier for parents to respond calmly during fussy moments.

The blog also suggests creating a simple 10-minute plan for difficult times of day, with a short parent reset (breathing, relaxing shoulders, softening the voice) followed by a consistent soothing routine for the baby. Repeating small, predictable actions helps both parents and babies feel more secure.

Overall, the message is that tiny, repeatable self-care practices can build family resilience, reduce overwhelm, and create a more peaceful routine—even during challenging colic phases.
